Mastisol Liquid Adhesive, a latex-free medical adhesive, is used to secure dressings, tapes, and certain medical devices over an extended period of time. This 2-fluid-ounce product by Ferndale is designed to offer a waterproof bond with long-lasting adhesion.

The instructions for use are as follows:

Crack: Place the individual vial blister pack on a hard surface with the label facing down. Gently apply pressure to the vial through the blister pack to crush the inner ampule and release the Mastisol.

Peel: Using aseptic technique, peel back the lid of the blister pack and remove the vial.

Apply: Turn the vial upside-down to dispense Mastisol onto the skin in a half-inch wide line. Apply the adhesive to the outside border of where the dressing will be placed, avoiding the area immediately surrounding the catheter insertion site. Allow the Mastisol to dry completely, which takes approximately 20-30 seconds.

Dress: According to facility protocol, apply the dressing to the skin, ensuring the edges are in contact with the Mastisol.

For best results, use Detachol Adhesive Remover for removal.

The Mastisol Liquid Adhesive is a latex-free formula, making it suitable for individuals with latex allergies.
